Swedish Gaming Authority Bans Four Companies for Operating Without Licences

Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gaming Authority, has prohibited four companies from operating in Sweden due to their lack of the required licences. The affected companies are Itsfail Ltd, Teamfail Limited, NewEra BV, and Jer-Team NV.

Itsfail Ltd and Teamfail Limited were discovered to be offering games where players could win or lose "skins"—collectable items from popular computer games that can often be exchanged for money outside the game environment. These types of websites are ineligible for a Swedish gaming licence and typically do not have proper age verification measures.

The Swedish Gambling Authority's strategy focuses on ensuring that gambling activities are carried out through operators who possess a Swedish licence. This recent action is part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to regulate the market and protect Swedish players from unlicensed operators.

In recent weeks, several similar cases have emerged. For instance, earlier this month, the Swedish Gaming Authority banned MRSL NV from providing games to Swedish players without the necessary licence. MRSL NV has now joined a growing list of operators banned in Sweden for violating Swedish regulations, including Equinox Dynamic, Alpha Interactive Solutions, and Nero Media, among others.

In addition to outright bans, the Authority has also recently issued several fines. Kanon Gaming was fined SEK 7 million ($668,000) earlier this week for multiple legal breaches, including insufficient protection measures for players showing signs of excessive gambling.
