The Embassy of Poland in Abu Dhabi has introduced a new appointment system, known as the e-konsulat system, for foreign residents in the UAE seeking to apply for a Polish Schengen visa.
The new system, which officially launched on November 8, 2024, requires applicants to register in the platform to submit their visa application and receive an appointment date.
Announcing the update, the Polish Embassy emphasized the importance of the new system, stating:"The Polish Embassy in Abu Dhabi kindly informs about the change of the system regarding the registry for appointments in order to submit applications for Schengen visas."
Chronological Appointment Allocation
Under the e-konsulat system, appointment dates will be assigned chronologically based on the date of registration. This ensures that applicants who register earlier in the system are granted appointment slots sooner. The change aims to streamline the scheduling process and enhance fairness in allocating appointments for those applying for short-term Polish Schengen visas.
Three-Step Process for Applications
The e-konsulat system involves a three-stage application process, which requires applicants to follow the instructions carefully and complete specific fields within the allotted time. Authorities have stressed the importance of accuracy when filling out the visa application form, particularly regarding details about the host in the Schengen states or accommodation arrangements.
Applicants must provide correct information about their host or, if staying in a hotel, the name, address, and contact details of the accommodation. The Polish Embassy reiterated this requirement, stating:"Please fill in all required fields of the visa application form reliably and correctly with special attention to the point: Name of host person or company in the Schengen states and contact person in host company. If not applicable – name of hotel, address and telephone number or temporary address with the telephone number in the Schengen states."
It was also noted that once the information has been submitted, no changes or corrections can be made.
Twice-Weekly Appointment Assignments
The Polish authorities explained that appointment dates will be assigned twice weekly, with notifications sent via email. Each applicant will be informed of their scheduled visa interview based on the time of their registration in the system.
Visa Exemption for UAE Passport Holders
These new procedures apply solely to foreign residents in the UAE who require a Schengen visa to enter the region. UAE passport holders remain exempt from this requirement and can enjoy visa-free travel to the Schengen Area.
This system marks a significant shift in the way Schengen visa appointments are handled by the Polish Embassy in Abu Dhabi, aiming to improve the process for applicants while ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
