Mediolanum announces the creation of a circular economy fund

Mediolanum International Funds has launched a fund that will invest in companies that help the world transition to a circular economy.

Mediolanum International Funds has launched a fund that will invest in companies that help the world transition to a circular economy.

The Mediolanum Circular Opportunities fund will be included to the firm's Best Brands umbrella offering and will be classified as Article 9 under the EU's Single Financial Disclosure Regulation.

David Whitehead, an equity portfolio manager on Mediolanum's multi-manager team, will manage and oversee the fund.

A 'circular economy,' according to Mediolanum, is one that is "restorative or regenerative by intention and design"

From the start, the main delegate managers will be KBI Global Investors and Pictet Asset Management, with additional assets under management allocations invested in target funds.

According to Mediolanum, the firm will be able to create a diverse portfolio with a strong focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by "the combination of different, low correlated, yet complimentary investment approaches"

Chief business officer Luca Matassino had this to say: "The circular economy is increasingly adopted as a powerful framework to address the world's most pressing challenges. Industry leaders are recognising that they have the power to shift towards sustainability while also achieving better business results by embracing innovation and new Circular production and consumption models."
