The Macau government reported gaming tax revenue of MOP$88.1 billion (US$11.0 billion) for 2024, reflecting a substantial 35.0% increase from the MOP$65.3 billion (US$8.15 billion) collected in 2023.

According to data released by Macau’s Financial Services Bureau (DSF), the total gaming tax revenue for the year included MOP$7.08 billion (US$884 million) collected in December. This represented a 14.4% increase compared to the same month in the previous year, although it marked a 13.0% decline from November’s figures.
The December gaming tax revenue is directly linked to Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for November, which stood at MOP$18.4 billion (US$2.30 billion). Given the structure of Macau’s taxation system, gaming tax revenue collected in any given month typically corresponds to GGR from the previous month.
The government has already disclosed that its gaming tax revenue for January 2025 reached MOP$7.19 billion (US$896 million). For the year ahead, Macau’s annual budget for gaming tax has been set at MOP$93.1 billion (US$11.6 billion), reflecting expectations of continued strong performance in the industry.
The final gaming tax revenue for 2024 confirms the significant role of the gaming industry in Macau’s economy. The sector accounted for 80.5% of the region’s total tax revenue, which reached MOP$109.5 billion (US$13.7 billion) for the year.
