The global Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) industry has launched a record-breaking 1,063 new products in the first seven months of this year, surpassing the previous high of 988 new product listings during the same period in 2021.

After accounting for 314 closures in the first seven months of 2024, the net increase in ETF products stands at 749. This net growth has exceeded the previous record of 988 new ETFs listed at this point in 2021, according to data from consultancy firm ETFGI.


The distribution of these new ETF launches has been widespread, with 363 products introduced in the United States, 341 in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan), and 171 in Europe. The United States also reported the highest number of ETF closures, with 104, followed by 85 closures in the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), and 56 in Europe.


Cyprus Company Formation

A total of 281 providers were responsible for these new launches, which were spread across 39 exchanges globally. Meanwhile, the 314 closures came from 107 providers operating across 24 exchanges. Among the newly listed products, there are 461 active ETFs, 374 ETFs classified as equity, and 104 ETFs categorized under fixed income asset classes.
