The Netherlands Gambling Authority has levied a hefty fine of nearly €20 million against online gambling operator Gammix, marking the highest penalty ever imposed by the Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA). This comes after Gammix was previously fined €4 million in 2022 for operating in the market without a proper license.
KSA chairman René Jansen emphasized the importance of protecting Dutch players, stating, "Dutch players must be protected, that is why we are cracking down on illegal offers." He further highlighted concerns regarding illegal providers neglecting player safety and failing to implement proper age verification measures. Jansen noted that Gammix was among the operators found lacking in these areas.
The record fine of €19,679,000 imposed on Gammix by KSA is calculated based on the operator's estimated turnover from Dutch players, with additional penalties for regulatory breaches such as the absence of age verification and the availability of autoplay and turboplay features. Gammix, which holds a license from Malta, is accused of persistently offering online casino games to Dutch players without obtaining a local license, using various domain names including rantcasino, betoriginal, bluvegas, cashimashi, goslot, nordslot, vegadream, and scatters.
This latest fine underscores the Dutch authorities' commitment to enforcing regulations and cracking down on illegal gambling activities within the country. Despite being previously penalized with a €4 million fine in September 2023, Gammix's continued violations have resulted in the significant financial penalty imposed by KSA.
