Cyprus Investment Organizations Experience Asset Fluctuations Despite Numerical Surge in Q3 2023

The third quarter of 2023 witnessed a notable increase in the number of investment organizations in Cyprus, surging by 4.6%, as reported by the Central Bank of Cyprus in its release for September. Despite this rise in numbers, the total assets of these organizations saw a significant decline of 24.6%, falling from €8.68 billion in June 2023 to €6.55 billion in September 2023.

Cyprus Investment Organizations Experience Asset Fluctuations Despite Numerical Surge in Q3 2023

The primary factor contributing to the dip in asset value was identified as stock acquisitions by these investment entities, a consequence of corporate restructuring activities within Cyprus, according to insights from the Central Bank. The overall value of stocks and related titles within the investment organizations' assets exhibited a notable decrease, dropping to €4.64 billion in September 2023 from €6.71 billion in June of the same year.


Furthermore, deposits and loans within these organizations experienced a decline, amounting to €758 million in September compared to €875 million in June. In contrast, the value of securities within the investment organizations saw an increase, reaching €614 million in September 2023 from €585 million in June.

Citizenship-by-Investment Programs

The non-financial aspects of their assets, including fixed elements, demonstrated growth, reaching €355 million from €346 million. Additionally, other components of assets, encompassing financial derivatives, witnessed an increase to €180 million from €172 million in June.


This data provides insights into the dynamic landscape of investment organizations in Cyprus during the third quarter of 2023, reflecting both numerical expansion and notable fluctuations in asset values.
