Betsson Group has confirmed it will cease its B2C operations in the US by the end of September 2024. The company, which initially entered the US market through its Betsafe brand in Colorado, has decided to exit the region after launching its mobile sportsbook app in partnership with Dostal Alley Casino.
At the time of the US launch, Betsson described the sportsbook app as "an important component of the company’s B2B strategy in the country." The company reiterated this position in a recent statement, emphasizing that the launch was primarily intended to showcase its sportsbook capabilities for potential B2B partners.
Despite its withdrawal from the US, Betsson will maintain a presence in North America. In February 2023, the company introduced its Betsafe brand in Ontario, Canada, offering a range of B2C products, including sports betting and online casino services.
A spokesperson for Betsson Group commented on the decision to exit the US market, stating: "Betsson has decided to discontinue its B2C operations in Colorado (USA) at the end of September 2024. So, for the foreseeable future, we will not have any B2C offering in the US."
They continued, “As communicated initially, our B2C operations in Colorado served primarily to display our sportsbook for B2B purposes and to provide us with valuable first-hand insights into the dynamics of the US online sports betting market.”
In other company news, Betsson has secured a multi-year global betting sponsorship deal with Premier Padel, with the partnership focusing on enhancing fan experiences during the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour.
